The MC400V620A1 offers a motor control solution for 400V operated electric vehicles, designed according to ISO26262 safety standard guidelines, suitable for application across various classes ranging from Full-Electric Vehicles (FEV) up to Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Light Electric Vehicles (LEV).

Motor support

Traction inverter for 3-phase electric motors having: DC-Link: 400V (nominal), DC-Link Range: 350V – 450V, Current: 300A rms (continuous), 620A rms (boost), Power: 130kVA (continuous), 260kVA (boost); Power density: 31.45kVA/liter. Support for multiple motor types (eg.: PMSM, TFM, AFM). Full access to motor control parameters.

Flexible support for position sensors and interfaces including digital Hall sensors, Encoder, SSI and analog Sin/Cos sensors.  Support for motor temperature sensors.

Easy motor specific adaption regardless of the motor manufacturer. In case you do not have access to the detailed technical motor specification, I&M offers to characterize the motor for you on our in-house test bench.

High Efficiency Power Electronics and Motor Algorithms

“Field Oriented Control“ (FOC) or “Direct Flux Vector Control” (DFVC) control alghoritms available. Highest performance and maximum torque under all operating conditions and speeds with “Full Field Weakening“ support. Up to 98% efficiency, that means increased vehicle range.

High energy efficiency due to recuperative breaking option. Minimum motor harmonics and torque ripple.

MC400V620A1 is configurable with IGBT or SiC power modules for optimum cost/performance ratio.

  • Integrated EMC filter.
  • Liquid cooling (water-glycol solution 50%).
  • Generic digital / analog inputs for vehicle management functions (including: brake, throttle, drive mode selector, auxiliaries).
  • Generic digital outputs to drive: relays, lamps, small loads.
  • Support of vehicle management functions (VMU), including brake, throttle, drive mode selector, auxiliaries.
  • Comprehensive diagnostic and safety functions.
  • System protection against over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature.
  • Controlled derating in case of system protection.
  • Designed according to ISO26262, supports up to ASIL-D level (through advanced safe power supply, lockstep and watchdog architecture).

Communication

  • Three CAN 2.0/FD up to 1Mbaud/5Mbaud.
  • The CAN bus also serves as interface for SW updates, system monitoring and diagnostic checks supported by an UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) standard protocol through ODB-2 port.
  • One 100-BaseT Ethernet connection is also available for development purposes.

In case the MC400V620A1 controller functionality meets your general requirements but your specific application needs some adaptions please contact us. Due to the modular design many modifications can be made quickly and with low effort. Options include e.g. changes of nominal operating voltage to 800V, different power module technologies, housing etc.
